Talk by Karen Berry ARPS AFIAP
The speaker on 22/3/11 was Karen Berry, a member of Edinburgh Photographic Society, where she became their youngest ever president in 2004. This is perhaps no surprise, as she started taking photographs when just 9 years old and began entering national and international competitions when she was 15.
Her expertise and passion is natural history. From close up images of insects taken in her own garden, to stunning shots of wildebeast and cheetahs in the Serengeti National Park in Africa and of native birds in Australia, her audience were enchanted. By sharing knowledge of her subjects, stories of her far travelled expeditions and descriptions of her patience and luck in getting the perfect shot, the evening passed all too quickly.
A well deserved vote of thanks was given by vice president Ian Main.
The evening ended with members being able to view her prints over a cup of tea and a chance to ask her more about her equipment, settings and the like.
