Prestigious win for Clydesdale CC

Clydesdale Camera Club, along with good friends, Carluke Camera Club and Alba Photographic Society provided the local interest in the final of the 2011 Glasgow District Photographic Union, Image League Competition.

18 of the 30 or so camera clubs affiliated to the GDPU had entered the competition, initially taking on other clubs in a Round Robin format. Clydesdale, only at their second attempt, topped their table and joined the other 5 finalists who met on Tuesday 5 April 2011 at East Kilbride Arts Centre for the final.

The finalists were Alba, Carluke, Clydesdale, Drumchapel, East Kilbride and Queens Park.

Each club submits 15 images to be judged individually and given a mark out of 20. The team with the highest accumulated mark are the winners. The judge for this years final was George Neilson ARPS, President of Edinburgh Photographic Society.

After a close run affair, Clydesdale Camera Club were declared winners. It was a brilliant result for Clydesdale CC, who were only formed in 2009. Gavin Forrest DPAGB, President of Clydesdale CC gratefully accepted the trophy on behalf of the club and its members.

The final scores were: 1st - Clydesdale CC 258 points, 2nd - Carluke CC 251, 3rd - East Kilbride CC 249, 4th - Queens Park CC 239, 5th - Drumchapel CC 229 and 6th - Alba PS 223

Thanks to everyone involved in the club and especialy those who attended the final to provide support. Last and by no means least, thank you to all who supplied images for consideration. It is the competition and enthusiasm of the members that helps to spur others on to improve their own images.
